Big Hearted Cowboys 21st Annual Charity Event

Thursday, June 30

This fund raising event is an informal, pre-stampede party that you and your guests are sure to enjoy! Participate in this great event and help raise thousands of dollars to put back into the community through local charities. The event will include entertainment by the local country musician Lori Kole, a live and silent auction, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

City of Calgary Canada Day Celebrations

Friday, July 1

On Canada Day this year, more than 250,000 people are expected to join in Canada’s 149th birthday celebrations throughout downtown. Festivities will include Canadian Armed Forces activities, the always popular Living Flag, an Aboriginal showcase with a traditional Powwow on Prince’s Island, a fantastic line-up of Canadian musicians on the Riverfront Avenue stage and an outstanding fireworks display off the Centre Street Bridge. As in past years there are so many locations with family-friendly activities and amazing entertainment.

 

Studio Bell Public Opening

The grand opening of Studio Bell is on Canada Day!! Only on July 1, admission to the centre is free. The centre will also be hosting special Canada Day programming all day to celebrate the opening.  10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Canada Day in Chestermere

Friday, July 1

Canada Day celebrations in Chestermere kick off with a free pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. Throughout the day, expect live entertainment, bunny races, family-friendly games and races and Latin family dancing. The day ends with fireworks at dusk. Food bank donations will also be accepted for Fort McMurray wildlife relief.  9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Canada Day in Airdrie

Friday, July 1

Airdrie’s annual Canada Day parade begins at 10 a.m. This year, there are going to be 100 floats in the parade as well as several bands. New this year is the addition of reserved bleacher seating. Throughout the day, festivities include a monster truck show, dunk tank, food vendors, live entertainment and fireworks at dusk.

The parade is down Main Street and the fireworks are at Chinook Winds Park.  10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Packwood Grand

The Packwood Grand is set to be a true celebration of old world leisure and sophistication. Last year, this refined and colourful event set the stage for the ultimate in luxury horse racing, fashion, and food & drink. Native Tongues is celebrating their first birthday on Canada Day! They’ll be hosting a Rooftop Patio Party at Broken City featuring hot Sonora Dogs for $5 and their very own Double Fuzz Band from 7 pm – late.   7p.m.  to 11p.m.

Canada Day Polo

Friday, July 1

Spend Canada Day at the Calgary Polo Club. Polo matches begin at 10:30 a.m. with a junior polo match and more polo matches throughout the day. Because it’s Canada Day, also expect to sing the national anthem and see flag-bearing riders. Bring along your own lawn chair and a tailgate picnic, too. Admission to the grounds is free and everyone is welcome! 10:30 a.m.

Bike to the Market

Saturday, July 2

Roll on down to the Calgary Farmers’ Market for Bike to the Market Day. It’s going to be a great day of cycling, local food and lots of summer fun! Cycle down to the market from 10-2 and enjoy the festivities! The event will take place on the South patio & grassy area.
